American Booksellers Book of the Year (ABBY) Award 1991-1999
The American Booksellers Book of the Year (ABBY) Award was established in 1991. Books were chosen by American Booksellers Association bookstore members, based on the books they "most enjoyed recommending to their customers during the previous year." The children's award was added in 1993.
In 2000, the American Booksellers Association renamed the ABBY the Book Sense Book of the Year Award.
